Myths and Legends: Heracles and Cerberus

This is one of the labors of Heracles that were imposed as "extras" by King Eurystheus because he rejected two of Heracles' already-completed labors. Capturing Cerberus, the triple-headed hound of the underworld, was thus Heracles' Twelfth, and last, Labor. Before Heracles subdued and captured Cerberus, he made sure to ask Hades, lord of the underworld, for permission first!
